Den charmerende mestertyv, Max Burdett, og hans smukke medsammensvorne, Lola, er netop ankommet til den idylliske Paradise Island for at nyde livet i fulde drag. Og der er virkelig tale om at nyde livet, for de har netop fået afsat deres seneste bytte – en af de værdifulde Napoleon Diamanter – der er adskillige millioner værd. Men den arbejdsomme FBI agent, Stan Lloyd, er lige i hælene på tyveparret, og Stan tror ikke et øjeblik på, at Max og Lola har lagt deres metier på hylden… Stan er overbevist om, at de vil have fingrene i den tredje Napoleon Diamant, der snart vil ankomme til Paradise Island. Men i kulissen lurer den lokale gangster, Kingpin, der også meget gerne vil have fat i diamanten...
