I fremtiden er Jorden ikke længere beboelig. Under en skoleudflugt støder en klasse og et par marinesoldater på resterne af Camp Crystal Lake, hvor de finder to nedfrosne kroppe. Den ene er en smuk ung kvinde, og den anden en mand, som virker bekendt og bærer en ishockeymaske og holder en machete i sin højre hånd.Gruppen beslutter at tage kroppene med tilbage og tø dem op og undersøge dem. Men hvad var deres første fejltagelse? At de tog kroppene med tilbage, eller at de tøede dem op, så den hæmningsløse Jason Voorhees igen kan gå amok og myrde alle på sin vej?Og hvad nu hvis Jason fik en tur i en opgraderingsmaskine og blev mere avanceret i form af et nyt panser, en anden version af sin maske og nye våben, så han blev endnu mere farlig end nogensinde før?
